In order to receive licensing in Colorado as a master, journeyman or residential electrician or plumber, a fully completed application must be submitted to the Examining Board of Plumbers and State Electrical Board with documentation for your experience.

To qualify to receive a residential plumber's license you must verify two years or three thousand four hundred hours of practical experience. The maximum experience the board requires for an applicant to qualify to receive a journeyman plumber's license is four years or six thousand eight hundred hours of practical experience. An applicant for a master plumber's license must furnish evidence of having obtained five full-time years of practical experience."

Applicants for a Colorado master electrician's license are required to provide verification of five years of electrical experience; four years of that time must be electrical construction wiring, for lights, heat, and power; with a minimum of two years of that time being commercial and/or industrial work. One additional year must be in planning, lay-out, supervising, and installing wiring, apparatus, and equipment for electrical light, heat, and power.
