New Mexico Contractor License, State, Exam, Classification

To obtain your New Mexico contractor license the Construction Industries Division requires a trade exam for most New Mexico contractor license classifications, and contractors must submit examination scores before the application is processed.

New Mexico Contractor LicenseThe reciprocity agreements are for Journeyman electricians only. The states include; Alaska, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.

Every licensed contractor must meet financial responsibility requirements. Contractor’s maximum permit or contract value may be increased at any time but may be decreased only at renewal. If the contractor is using a bond or cash collateral assignment, the company name must read exactly the same as the name on your application. The cash collateral or bond document must be signed and notarized by a bank official or bonding agent.

The State Examination cannot be scheduled until the work history has been verified. The applicant must submit the required work experience affidavit for a specific classification to be approved for testing. We have application packages for every state including some counties. Electrical Contractors License Requirements:

A journeyman certificate of competence in the appropriate trade classification for the work to be performed is required of all individuals performing electrical wiring; provided however, that an apprentice may work under the direct supervision of a validly certified journeyman who is employed by a validly licensed person. Residential and commercial electrical wiring 5000 volts, nominal or less. Requires four years experience.

Mechanical and Plumbing Contractors License Requirements:

A journeyman certificate of competence in the appropriate trade classification for the work to be performed is required of all individuals performing mechanical and plumbing work; provided however, that an apprentice may work under the direct supervision of a validly certified journeyman who is employed by a validly licensed person. MM-1. Plumbing. Requires four years experience.
